o Sole practitioner in a church-based counseling program

o Function as Parish Associate in the sponsoring church (worship leadership, administrative and pastoral care responsibilities in a small urban church) – Ormewood Park Presbyterian Church

The Center for Pastoral Care, Atlanta, Georgia

o Clinical and administrative responsibility for an interdenominational pastoral counseling center with a staff of four persons. I raised and managed a budget of approximately $90,000 which was raised from our supporting congregations (Peachtree Presbyterian Church and the Episcopal Cathedral of St. Philip), and from client fees.

Clinical Staff Chaplain (1977-1982)

The Georgia Retardation Center (later known as Brook Run)

o Chaplaincy services on a staff of three to a 24-hour facility providing care and training to 500 severely and profoundly disabled children and adults.

o I was responsible for three worship services per week for the residents and staff.

o I provided clinical supervision for supervised ministry students from Columbia, Candler, and ITC.

o Participated in weekly interdisciplinary staff meetings

o Provided pastoral care for the families of our residents

o Participated in JCAH accreditation

o Took 24 hour on-call rotation with the other Staff Chaplain

o Provided in-service training for facility staff in Human Sexuality, Interpersonal Communication, and Human Rights

o Participated in the development of a multiple-diagnosis treatment team

Associate Pastor (1974-1977)

o Provided pastoral care in a multiple-staff (2 ministers) congregation with approximately 1000 members

o Responsible for the entire education program for the church

o Responsible for the Child Care Center and the Weekday Kindergarten Program, including staff supervision, program development, staff training, and general administration

o Co-lead Sunday worship services, preaching 12 times per year

Community Counseling (part time) (1990-1995)
